Former Pentwater timber business owner faces indictment for Ponzi-like scheme

GRAND RAPIDS — A federal grand jury returned an indictment charging Trent William Witteveen, 39, of Montague with wire fraud, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office of Western District of Michigan.   Witteveen, formerly of Pentwater, operated a timber harvesting business under the names “Titan Timber” and “Titans Timber LLC,” according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.            “Hard…

News alert: Vehicle crash on US 31

HART TOWNSHIP — Emergency crews were dispatched to a vehicle crash on southbound US 31 near the Hart rest area Saturday, March 16, shortly before noon. It was not immediately known if anyone was injured, but the  caller reported to Mason-Oceana 911 that the vehicle was on fire. The vehicle was evacuated. The scene was cleared at 12:43 p.m.
