HART — The following were sentenced recently in Oceana County’s 79th District Court:

  • Garrit Eugene Brown, 214 Church St., Hart, pleaded guilty March 19 to operating while impaired and was sentenced to two days suspended jail with credit for two days served; Alcohol Highway Safety Education (AHSE); Victim Impact Panel (VIP); and $1,055 in fines and costs. One count of operating while intoxicated was dismissed. Conviction reportable to the Secretary of State (SOS).
  • Bryan Thomas Sayers, of 2656 W. Shelby Rd., Shelby, pleaded guilty March 19 to operating while impaired and was sentenced to four days suspended jail with credit for four days served; AHSE; VIP; and $1,055 in fines and costs. One count of operating while intoxicated was dismissed. Conviction reportable to SOS.
  • Ethan James Possett, of 145 E. Randall St., Coopersville, pleaded guilty March 19 to operating while impaired and was sentenced to one day suspended jail with credit for one day served; AHSE; VIP; and $1,055 in fines and costs. One count of operating while intoxicated was dismissed. Conviction reportable to SOS.
  • Thomas Edward Markowski, Jr., of 1959 Lindberg Dr., Norton Shores, pleaded guilty April 2 to operating while intoxicated and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; outpatient treatment; Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) twice a week; and $1,055 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.
  • Matthew Edward Pawlowski, of 5357 S. 136th Ave., Rothbury, pleaded guilty April 2 to consuming alcohol on a highway and was sentenced to three months probation and $300 in fines and costs. One count of transporting open intoxicants was dismissed. Conviction reportable to SOS.
  • Jordan Christopher-Kendal Dodge, of 3367 Jefferson St., Muskegon, pleaded guilty April 2 to failure to stop for a property damage accident and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served and $500 in fines and costs. One count of failure to report an accident was dismissed.
  • Kevin George Lees, of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, pleaded guilty April 2 to DWLS and was sentenced to three months probation and $325 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.
  • Adam Troy Russell, of Ludington (street address not listed), pleaded guilty May 9, 2022 to driving while license suspended (DWLS) and was sentenced March 19, 2024 to 203 days suspended jail with credit for 203 days served. Conviction reportable to SOS.
  • Katharine Ann Carten, 39, of 2858 E. Raymond Rd., Twin Lake, pleaded guilty March 19 to non-sufficient fund check $100-$500 and was sentenced to one day suspended jail with credit for one day served and $502.62 in fines, costs and restitution. A second count of non-sufficient fund check $100-$500 was dismissed.
  • Edward Winston Goach, of of 280 Elliot St., Shelby, pleaded guilty April 9 to DWLS and was sentenced to $525 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS. One count of invalid certificate of insurance was dismissed. Conviction reportable to SOS.
