HART — The criminal case against a 27-year-old Pentwater man facing felony charges of assault with intent to murder and assault with intent to do great bodily harm for allegedly stabbing his parents at their Pentwater home, April 24, has been bound over to 51st Circuit Court.
Clayton Lane Devries remains lodged in the Oceana County Jail on $250,000/cash/surety bond.
Following a preliminary exam in Oceana County’s 79th District Court, the case was bound over to 51st Circuit Court, said Oceana County Prosecuting Attorney Joseph Bizon. “The case was bound over on all charges.”
Devries stabbed his 69-year-old father in the throat, said Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast, and he stabbed his 66-year-old mother in the “upper chest area.” They had recently returned to their Fifth Street home in Pentwater from Florida, he said.
The victims were transported by Life EMS to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital. The father was airlifted for further treatment at a Grand Rapids hospital.
Assault with intent to murder is punishable by up to life in prison, and assault with intent to do great bodily harm is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
