ROTHBURY — The Federal Bureau of Investigation announced that it is assisting the Michigan State Police in the investigation of a newborn baby found deceased in a porta-potty in the camping area at the Electric Forest Festival, June 28.
“The FBI is offering a reward of up to $15,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals involved in the death of the infant,” states the FBI.
“The FBI’s Detroit Field Office is assisting the Michigan State Police with the ongoing investigation into the death of a newborn infant whose body was discovered in a portable restroom at the Electric Forest Music Festival in Rothbury, Michigan, on June 28, 2026. Information is sought to assist investigators in identifying and apprehending those responsible.
“Anyone with information regarding this investigation is urged to contact the Michigan State Police by calling 1-855-MICHTIP. You may also contact your local FBI office, the nearest American Embassy or Consulate, or you can submit a tip online at tips.fbi.gov.”

The Michigan State Police announced last week that a Muskegon area woman was eliminated as a suspect. MSP received a tip about the woman who attended the festival. According to MSP, investigators identified and interviewed the woman, who was fully cooperative throughout the investigation.
