ROTHBURY — Michigan State Police have eliminated a Muskegon-area woman as a suspect in the investigation into the death of a newborn infant whose body was discovered during the 2026 Electric Forest Festival.
In an update posted Friday, July 10, on the Michigan State Police Sixth District’s X account, investigators said they recently received a tip about a woman from the Muskegon area who attended the festival and was believed to have information relevant to the investigation.
According to MSP, investigators identified and interviewed the woman, who was fully cooperative throughout the investigation. After completing the necessary investigative steps, police determined she was not involved and have eliminated her as a suspect.
The investigation into the infant’s death remains active and ongoing. State police said they will continue to provide updates as appropriate.
The deceased newborn was discovered June 28 in the Sherwood Forest area of the Electric Forest Festival grounds. An autopsy was completed at the Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine, but investigators previously said the results were not immediately available because additional testing was needed.
Anyone with information about the investigation is asked to contact the Michigan State Police Hart Post at 231-873-2171 or submit an anonymous tip through Silent Observer at 231-722-7463 or online at mosotips.com.
