HART – The Silver Lake Sand Dunes Area Chamber of Commerce presents the annual Gales Agency and Shelby State Bank Hometown Christmas. Several events will be taking place in the Hart, Mears and Silver Lake areas starting Friday.

Shop local stores and restaurants and the second annual Made in Michigan & Holiday Market this holiday season. At the Market vendors will feature many items for the family from fishing rods, wreaths, and wood work to food, t-shirts and books; everything is Made in Michigan. The Market hours are: Friday Nov 29 from 2 to 9 p.m., Saturday November 30 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, December 1 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Made in Michigan & Holiday Market is the indoor location for Santa’s visits if it is too cold for him at Hart Commons.
Christmas Parade
Start: 6:30 p.m.
Date: Friday, November 29, 2013
Line-up at 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. at Hart Public Schools
Stores will be open before and after. The City of Hart will be decorated with music, bands, floats, horses and more, plus Santa will be there.
Parade Route: Hart Public Schools to Johnson Street, to State Street, to West Main, to Water Street, to Johnson Street to Hart Public Schools.
If you want to be in the parade, contact the chamber of commerce or register the day of the event as you line-up. Application is found online at www.thinkdunes.com community calendar under Home for the Holidays event. The cost is free. To join just sign the waiver agreeing to the rules, see application for details (e.g., lighted entry, no throwing candy or items from moving vehicle, fire extinguisher in/on lighted entry)
Line up order is based on arrival time. City officials, Hart Marching Band and Home for the Holidays event sponsors will lead the parade, therefore line-up upon arrival by entering the schools parking lots from 72 Avenue. Santa will be the last entry and he will visit with the kids at Hart Commons.
Christmas Tree-Lighting Ceremony
After Parade
Location: Hart Commons
After the parade, the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Hart Commons will take place. Santa will light the Christmas tree. The Community Foundation for Oceana County’s Youth Advisory Council will be carolers and sing a few favorite holiday songs. After the ceremony Santa will be available to visit with the kids.
Hay Rides with Horses

Wagon ride pulled by a team of horses around Historic Downtown Hart. Provided this year by Lakeside Comprehensive Rehabilitation & Wellness Center and Lakeside Family Fitness & Wellness Center. It will comfortably seat 20 people. Horses and wagon provided by Grace Adventures.
Catch a ride after the parade in front of Lakeside Family Fitness & Wellness Center.
Ride route loops through downtown Hart to enjoy the decorations and excitement.

If it is warm enough for the children and Santa, Santa will be at Hart Commons for one hour and then Santa will walk to the Made in Michigan & Holiday Market. Upon arrival at the Market, Santa will join in on the Storybook Village Story-time for the first 15 minutes of his time. The remaining hour he’ll visit with children.
If it is too cold at Hart Commons, then Santa will visit with children at the Made in Michigan & Holiday Market.

Storybook Village puppets and Michigan-authored stories featured. Kid participation with the puppets will be part of the fun. Featured stories include: “The Stranger in the Woods” by Carl Sams and Jean Stoick and “A Wish to be a Christmas Tree” by Colleen Monroe and illustrated by Michael Glenn Monroe. Storybook Village will have a sponsorship booth with Michigan books for kids and they make great holiday gifts.

U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program will have a drop off location at the Made in Michigan & Holiday Market. They have center booth at the Market. Drop off your donation during Market hours.
Donate $10 or more toy receive a Toys for Tots Warrior Coin. Cash donations by check, made out to “Toys for Tots”. Donate cash by check. For donation check $250 or less your check is your receipt for the donation. For donation check for more than $250 you’ll receive a letter from Toy for Toys Foundation for tax purposes.
Small Business Saturday

“Shop Small” in downtown Hart and win big. This year’s Small Business Saturday event will last for four weeks: between the dates of Friday, November 29 and Saturday, December 21.
Pick up a small business supporter card at a participating downtown Hart merchant. Shop or dine five times at participating locations and get your card punched. Enter your card into a card collector at a participating location for a chance to win!
