Student removed from Walkerville school following threats

November 6, 2026

WALKERVILLE — A student at Walkerville Public Schools was removed from school Friday, Nov. 6, after reportedly making threats against the school community.

According to a letter sent to parents by Interim Superintendent Scott Karaptian, Principal John Oleson was made aware of the threats Friday morning and immediately contacted law enforcement.

Law enforcement officers responded to the school to investigate the situation and ensure the safety of students and staff.

“Working with law enforcement, the student who made the threat was identified. That student has been removed from school,” Karaptian stated in the letter.

School officials and law enforcement officers interviewed several students as part of the investigation.

“At no time was there an imminent risk of harm to any student or staff member,” Karaptian stated.

The district did not disclose the nature of the threats or identify the student involved. The letter also did not indicate whether criminal charges are being pursued.

Karaptian said school administrators will continue working with students, staff, the community and law enforcement to maintain a safe learning environment.

“Walkerville Public Schools has zero tolerance for school threats,” Karaptian stated. “Any person who makes a threat against our school community will face consequences under our school policies and state law, including possible expulsion and criminal conviction.”

The district encouraged anyone with information about school threats to immediately contact law enforcement, a school principal or submit an anonymous report through OK2SAY, Michigan’s confidential school safety reporting system.
