HART — A possible safety situation put Hart Public Schools on alert Wednesday, Nov. 4, before it was determined that it was not a threat to school students and staff.

“Late this morning, we were informed of a possible safety situation taking place in the City of Hart,” stated Hart Superintendent Brad Jacobs in a social media post, addressing parents and community members. “After working with our SRO (school resource officer)/law enforcement, it was determined that this situation was not a threat to the students and staff at Hart Public Schools. Some students were kept inside our buildings for a brief period of time until we were able to get a definitive answer from law enforcement.

“The safety of our students and staff will always be our top priority—we appreciate the assistance of the City of Hart PD as well as the Oceana County Sheriff’s Department in working with us to come to a speedy resolution.”

The superintendent said that those who have any questions or concerns, should contact the school administration office at 231-873-6214.
