HART — A 33-year-old Norton Shores man who was apparently angry for not receiving a gas card from the Department of Health and Human Services staff allegedly slammed the government office’s front entrance door so hard Friday, Oct. 16, that it caused $500 in damages.
The incident occurred after staff told the man that they could not release his girlfriend’s gas card to him that he came to pick up, said Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.
“The suspect became upset with the staff at DHHS, and he was told to leave the building due to his behavior,” said Sheriff Mast. “As he exited the building, he slammed the first entry door open and the second entry door against the brick wall behind it. This action caused damage to the door, preventing it from being able to be properly locked. This case is turned over to the prosecuting attorney for review for this MDOP (malicious destruction of property.)”
The suspect is 6’3” tall and weighs 280 pounds.
