
Roger Jorissen
Roger Jorissen, 76, of Pentwater, passed away at home on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. He was born July 22, 1950, in Hart to John and Nellie (Arnouts) Jorissen.
Roger served in the United States Army in Berlin, Germany. After returning home from military service, he met Jean Raymond of Walkerville. They were married on October 21, 1972, and raised three sons: Gary, Bradly, and Todd.
Roger spent much of his life behind the wheel as a dedicated truck driver with the handle “Woodchuck.” He took pride in his work and was known for his skill in backing up his trailers.Throughout his career, he cut wood for Ray Nash Forestry, and drove for Towns Trucking, Van Kampen Brothers, Yellow Rose, Meekoff, Cordes Trucking, and Dan Peterson & Son Limestone.
When he wasn’t on the road, Roger enjoyed planting his garden, creek fishing, deer hunting with the boys, and spending time with his family.
Roger is survived by: his wife, Jean Jorissen; his three sons, Gary (Anne) Jorissen, Bradly (Kate) Jorissen, and Todd (Kristin) Jorissen; his grandchildren, Nichole (Chad) Deters, Bryce, Logan, Kelsey, Maggie, Ben, Colton, Nolan, and Griffin; two great-grandsons, Crew and Jayce Deters; sisters, Brenda (Phil) Decker of Lawton and Marilyn (Denny) Thompson of Florida; and sister-in-law, Janet Jorissen, with whom he shared a special bond.
He was preceded in death by: his sister and brother-in-law, Marlene and Charles Monton; brother, Marshall Jorissen; and great-granddaughter, Presley Kay Deters.
Roger will be lovingly remembered by his family and all who knew him.
Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, King-Hart Chapel, 2370 N. 72nd Ave, Hart with visitation being held at 10 a.m. until time of service, and a luncheon at the funeral home following all services. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, October 16, 2026, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, King-Hart Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to an organization of your choice in memory of Roger and his battle with Parkinson’s disease and Lewy body dementia.
The family would like to thank the individuals from Cornerstone Caregiving and Elara Caring Hospice who provided loving care to Roger and supported Jean through the hardest days. Their kindness and compassion will always be remembered.
