Teacher grant applications open through Sept. 30

OCEANA COUNTY – As the new school year begins, the Oceana Community Foundation has announced that applications are open for its annual Teacher Mini-Grants Program through Sept. 30.

Funded through the foundation’s Youth Advisory Council and community partners, the grants provide up to $250 to help public and private school teachers and counselors throughout Oceana County bring creative ideas to life.

From hands-on STEM projects and literacy programs to sensory learning tools, art experiences, classroom enrichment activities, and student engagement initiatives, these grants help educators create memorable learning opportunities for their students. 

The program is led by YAC, which is a group of student representatives and adult advisors from the five Oceana County school districts.

“Together, YAC members identify youth-focused needs in their communities and help direct funding to programs and projects that positively impact local youth. Through the Teacher Mini-Grants Program, YAC members have the opportunity to support educators while helping enhance learning experiences for fellow students across the county,” states a press release from the community foundation.

“One of our favorite parts of the school year is seeing the ideas teachers bring forward through this program,” said Hannah Naples, community impact officer of the Oceana

Community Foundation. “Our educators are constantly finding new ways to engage students, and these grants provide a small boost to help make those ideas happen.”
