ATV rider injured in dune crash

GOLDEN TOWNSHIP — A 54-year-old Rochester Hills man operating a 2024 Polaris RZR at the Silver Lake Sand Dunes was injured during a crash Thursday, Sept. 10, shortly after 7 p.m.

“The vehicle went over the hill too fast, causing it to roll over on the back side of the hill,” states an Oceana County Sheriff’s Office traffic crash report. The man sustained a shoulder injury and was transported to Trinity Health Muskegon Hospital by Life EMS. His passenger, who is a 53-year-old Rochester Hills woman, was not injured.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.

The sheriff’s office responded to three other injury crashes at the sand dunes over the weekend, but none of the people who were injured were transported to the hospital, according to the sheriff’s office traffic crash reports.
