MUSKEGON COUNTY — The Michigan Department of Transportation will begin work on northbound and southbound US 31 bridges over Walsh Road in Montague Township and Colby Road in Whitehall Township in northern Muskegon County Tuesday, Sept. 8.

“Lane closures and traffic shifts will be in effect throughout the project on US 31 and Colby Street,” states MDOT. “Walsh Road will be closed under US 31, and the northbound US 31 exit 128 to Colby Street will be closed. Left turns will not be allowed from southbound US 31 onto Colby Street.”

The $2.8 million project is expected to be completed in mid-November.

“This investment will repair and improve the bridges to further extend their service lives. Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 24 jobs,” states MDOT.
