SHELBY TOWNSHIP — A 31-year-old Shelby man was arrested by Michigan State Police troopers from the Hart post on two felony counts of possession of child sexually abusive material and one felony count of using a computer to commit a crime on South 72nd Avenue Wednesday, Aug. 5, at 5:30 a.m., according to Trooper Freddy Bahena.
The man was lodged in the Oceana County Jail.
The following is other recent Oceana County activity of the Hart post of the Michigan State Police:
Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026:
- Noon, assault and malicious destruction of property, South 140th Avenue, Ferry Township. Charges are pending prosecutorial review against two 56-year-old male suspects — one of whom is accused of assaulting the other one, and the other one is accused of breaking out a windshield during a landlord/tenant dispute.
- 8 p.m., a 42-year-old Bitely, Mich. man was arrested on a failure to appear warrant issued in Calhoun County, East Main Street, Village of Walkerville. He was lodged in the Oceana County Jail to await transport to the Calhoun County Jail.
Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026:
- 1:45 p.m., two gas cans were stolen from a pontoon boat, McLaren Lake, Newfield Township.
Sunday, Aug. 9, 2026:
- 12:15 p.m., a 50-year-old Hart man was cited for operating without insurance and operating without a license, M 20 and US 31, Shelby Township.
Monday, Aug. 10, 2026:
- 10:30 p.m., a 43-year-old Muskegon man was arrested on an Ottawa County failure to appear warrant, US 31 and Polk Road, Hart Township. He was lodged in the Oceana County Jail to await transport to the Ottawa County Jail.
