GOLDEN TOWNSHIP — A 25-year-old pregnant Norton Shores woman was taken to Trinity Health Muskegon Hospital following a crash on the Silver Lake Sand Dunes Thursday, Aug. 6, shortly after 9 p.m., according to an Oceana County Sheriff’s Office traffic crash report.
The woman was taken by a private vehicle to the hospital “for an exam to verify that the pregnancy was unharmed,” states the report.
She was a passenger in a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by a 26-year-old Norton Shores man that collided head-on while going over a dune with a 2020 Polaris RZR operated by a 28-year-old Lowell man. The impact of the crash caused the airbags to deploy in the truck, which was towed from the scene, the report states.
All three people involved were wearing seatbelts. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in the crash. However, the report states that both drivers were going too fast. Neither driver was injured.
