Mason, Oceana voters renew 911 operating millage by overwhelming margin

August 5, 2026

Voters in Mason and Oceana counties overwhelmingly approved the renewal of the Mason-Oceana 911 operating millage Tuesday, extending funding for the region’s emergency dispatch system through 2031.

Unofficial election results showed the proposal received a combined 10,657 yes votes and 3,780 no votes across the two counties, easily surpassing the majority required for approval of the bi-county millage.

In Mason County, voters approved the renewal by a margin of 6,116 to 1,944. Oceana County voters also supported the proposal, 4,541 to 1,836.

The six-year renewal authorizes up to 0.1390 mill, about 13.9 cents per $1,000 of taxable value, for tax years 2026 through 2031. The levy will continue to fund operations of the Mason-Oceana 911 emergency dispatch system.

The proposal renews a previously authorized 0.1400-mill levy that was reduced to 0.1390 mill under the Headlee Amendment’s required rollback provisions. If levied in full during its first year, the millage is expected to generate an estimated $544,866 for 911 operations.

The results remain unofficial pending certification by the boards of canvassers in Mason and Oceana counties.
