GOLDEN TOWNSHIP — A 15-year-old Flat Rock, Mich. boy was transported by Life EMS to Trinity Health Muskegon Hospital following a dirt bike crash at the Silver Lake Sand Dunes Saturday, July 18, shortly after 10:30 a.m., according to an Oceana County Sheriff’s Office traffic crash report.
The boy was operating a 2026 Yamaha YZ250 when he “jumped a dune at a high rate of speed causing both tires of the vehicle to leave the ground,” states the report. “The vehicle struck the top of an 8-foot-tall dune marker with its rear tire” and “impacted the sand approximately 40 feet away.”
The teen sustained collarbone, elbow and leg injuries, the report states. He was wearing a helmet.
