SHELBY TOWNSHIP — The 22-year-old man who died following a single-vehicle crash, July 8, has been identified by the Michigan State Police as Frank Baxcajay of Shelby.
The passenger who was seriously injured in the crash is Jorge Garcia, 40, of Miami, Fla., according to MSP.
Troopers from the Hart post responded to the crash on South Oceana Drive south of West Buchanan Road at about 11:50 p.m.
According to the preliminary investigation, Baxcajay was traveling north on South Oceana Drive when the vehicle lost control, left the roadway and struck a utility pole. Both men were ejected from the vehicle.
Garcia sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Baxcajay was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Police did not have an update on Garcia’s condition.
