Judith Osten-Sacken
Judith (Judy) Ann Osten-Sacken, 92, of Hart, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 11, 2026, with family by her side.
Judy was born on Dec. 27, 1933, in Hart, to Merle ¨Doc¨ and Martha Wood (nee Anderson). She graduated co-salutatorian from Hart High School in 1952 and then completed her studies at the University of Michigan´s dental hygiene program in 1954. She dedicated more than three decades to practicing dental hygiene in both Michigan and Florida.
Judy was a fiercely loyal fan of the University of Michigan. On any given Saturday in the fall, the soundtrack in her living room alternated between cheers and expletives. On winning days, friends and family could expect a phone call that opened with “Hail to the Victors” instead of “hello.” Judy´s other passions included playing bridge, New York Times crossword puzzles in ink, reading, genealogy, gardening, shell collecting and backyard birding. She was a talented seamstress and knitter, who made anything from mittens to snowsuits for her six children.
One of a kind, Judy will be deeply missed by all who knew her for her feisty spirit, generous heart, and remarkable strength of character.
She is survived by her children, Mark Mather (Laura), Kristine Wilson (David), Karen Chandler, Richard Mather (Cathy), Allison McTaggart (Phil), Sarah Mather (Ernesto Cid), her sister, Mary Jane Turner, her dearest cousin, Bill Northquest (Jamie), 2 nephews, 2 nieces,14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Doc and Martha, her brother-in-law, Floyd Turner, Jr., her infant son Robert and her husband of 37 years, John ¨Jack¨Osten-Sacken.
In keeping with Judy´s wishes, there will be no formal funeral or memorial services held, but please honor her memory and consider making a donation to the charity of your choice in Judy’s name. She was a generous supporter of many local, state and national institutions and charities.
Arrangements were entrusted to Grace Funeral Home and Cremation Services, www.GraceCremations.com
