
Phyllis Joyce Brubaker
Phyllis Joyce Brubaker, 97, of Hesperia, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at the Newaygo County Compassion Home. She was born June 25, 1928, in Owosso, the daughter of John and Gertrude (Glick) Good.
Phyllis attended Central Michigan College of Education (now Central Michigan University), earning her teaching degree. She went on to teach third grade at Orchard View Schools for over 25 years. Phyllis spent a lot of her time running a resort in Baldwin, but she also enjoyed playing cards – and winning- as well as reading and spending time with her family and friends. She was also known to make the best pancakes.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Joe (Linda) Brubaker, Linda Hartman, Mary Ann Plewinski, Denise (John) Leversee, and Lucia (Brian) Myers; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and siblings, Pat Timmer, Gary Good, and Shirley Laviolette.
On June 23, 1957, Phyllis married her loving husband, Leo Brubaker, DO, in Kansas City, Mo., and he preceded her in death on March 14, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Dee Ann Brubaker.
In accordance with Phyllis’ wishes, cremation has taken place and private interment will be in Christ the King Catholic Cemetery in Hesperia.
