MUSKEGON — The Shelby Tigers closed out the regular season in strong fashion Tuesday, defeating Muskegon Catholic Central 10-3 in a non-league baseball game at Marsh Field.

Shelby used a balanced offensive attack and solid pitching to improve to 27-10 overall heading into district play Saturday at Shelby.

Dayday Garcia earned the win on the mound, pitching the first four innings for the Tigers before Trevor Weiss worked the final three innings in relief to close out the victory.

At the plate, Garcia, Cam Smith and Neil Gowell each collected two hits for Shelby. Smith and Gowell also drove in two runs apiece. Leighton Belasco and Chase Simon each added RBI singles for the Tigers.

Shelby will now turn its attention to the Division 3 district tournament beginning Saturday on its home field.
