CRYSTAL TOWNSHIP — A 43-year-old Howard City, Mich. man was arrested by Oceana County sheriff’s deputies for third-offense operating while intoxicated, third-offense driving while license suspended and open intoxicants following a vehicle crash on Madison Road near 140th Avenue Tuesday, May 19, at 6:18 p.m., according to Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.
No one was injured in the crash. It was the man’s sixth time being charged with driving while license suspended, said Sheriff Mast. Third-offense is the maximum charge in Michigan.

- 3:45 p.m., a 2011 Mazda CX9 was vandalized, New Era Dollar General parking lot, Oceana Drive, Shelby Township.
- 9:59 p.m., a 27-year-old Hesperia man was arrested on a warrant and a charge of driving while license suspended, East Garfield Road near 144th Avenue, Ferry Township. He was lodged in the Oceana County Jail.
Wednesday, May 20, 2026:
- 1:11 p.m., a drug possession charge is pending lab analysis of the substance against a 43-year-old New Era man, Hayes Road near Water Road, Shelby Township.
Friday, May 22, 2026:
- 12:49 a.m., a 52-year-old Custer man was cited for driving while license revoked, Madison Road near 96th Avenue, Weare Township.
- 8:52 a.m., larceny of soda pop, Mears Dollar General, West Polk Road, Golden Township.
- 11:18 a.m., a 65-year-old Walkerville woman was cited for second-offense driving while license revoked, South Maple Island Road near McKinley Road, Greenwood Township.
- 11:39 a.m., breaking and entering of a garage, 9200 block of West Buchanan Road, Benona Township. An entry door was tampered with to gain entry, but nothing was reported stolen.
- 4:20 p.m., a 38-year-old Sparta, Mich. man was cited for second-offense driving while license revoked, Podunk area of the federal forest, Greenwood Township.
- 5:36 p.m., a 44-year-old Holton woman was cited for driving while license revoked, Cisco Bayou, Greenwood Township.
- 4:47 p.m., a fleeing suspect in a silver Dodge Ram pickup truck evaded police, fleeing into Muskegon County following an attempted traffic stop at Skeels Road and 184th Avenue, Greenwood Township.
Saturday, May 23, 2026:
- 12:05 p.m., a 59-year-old Muskegon man was cited for driving while license revoked, US 31 and Polk Road, Hart Township.
- 12:32 p.m., a 32-year-old Owosso, Mich. woman was arrested for second-offense operating while intoxicated, Silver Lake Sand Dunes ORV area parking lot, Golden Township. She was lodged in the Oceana County Jail.
- 5:14 p.m., a 57-year-old Hesperia man was arrested for second-offense driving while license revoked, South 192nd Avenue near Skeels Road, Greenwood Township. He was lodged in the Oceana County Jail.
Sunday, May 24, 2026:
- 2:36 p.m., a 44-year-old Shelby man was arrested for third-offense operating while intoxicated, driving while license revoked and open intoxicants, Oceana Drive and 80th Avenue, Shelby Township. He was lodged in the Oceana County Jail.
- 6:11 p.m., domestic violence, no arrest, Double JJ Resort Back Forty area, Village of Rothbury.
- 10:23 p.m., a 48-year-old Walkerville man cited for second-offense driving while license revoked, 56th Avenue near Deer Road, Golden Township.
- 10:32 p.m., a 36-year-old Hart man was cited for driving while license suspended, and he and a 31-year-old Hart woman are suspects for meth possession. Their charges are pending lab analysis of the substance, West Polk Road near 100th Avenue, Hart Township.
Monday, May 25, 2026:
- 5:10 p.m., a 30-year-old Twin Lake man was cited for driving while license suspended, Polk Road near Comfort Drive, Hart Township.
- 10:39 p.m., a 35-year-old Hesperia man was cited for second-offense driving while license suspended, M 20 near 176th Avenue, Newfield Township.
