FRUITPORT — Pentwater was well represented Tuesday at the West Michigan All-Star Track and Field Meet at Fruitport High School, as three Falcons competed against many of the top athletes from across the region.

The meet features standout athletes from schools of all sizes throughout West Michigan, making qualification a significant accomplishment.

Senior Lauren Davis made the most of a surprise opportunity to compete in one final meet after qualifying in the 100-meter hurdles. Davis delivered one of her strongest performances of the season, posting a season-best time of 18.39 seconds while finishing just .02 seconds shy of her own school record.

Davis closes out an accomplished career with the Falcons and leaves behind a lasting impact on the program.

Senior Logan Fatura competed in both the shot put and discus, earning a medal with a fifth-place finish in the discus at 133 feet, 4 inches. He also recorded a throw of 39-9.5 in the shot put.

Fatura has been a steady leader for Pentwater throughout his career and will compete one final time next weekend at the Division 4 State Finals.

Sophomore Chase McGuire-Vangills turned in one of the top performances of the night for the Falcons in the 300-meter hurdles. Entering the meet ranked 10th, McGuire-Vangills ran a personal-best time of 42.10 seconds — nearly two seconds faster than his previous best — to place fourth and earn a medal.

His performance came against some of the strongest competition in West Michigan and gives him momentum heading into next Saturday’s Division 4 State Finals.
