Hart athletes earn pair of titles at West Michigan All-Star Meet

FRUITPORT — Hart High School’s boys and girls track and field teams turned in several strong performances Tuesday at the annual West Michigan All-Star Meet at Fruitport High School.

The Pirates were led by event champions Chase Lorenz and Carson Ackley. Lorenz captured the 400-meter title, while Ackley won the 3,200-meter run. Silas Ackley added a runner-up finish in the 3,200.

Hart also earned multiple third-place finishes. Lorenz placed third in the 100 meters, while the boys 4×400 relay team of Jack Slotman, Jaxson Oomen, Luke VanderWilk and Trevor VanderKodde also finished third.

Fourth-place medals went to Bryn Riley in the 3,200, Jagger Lenon in the pole vault and the girls 4×800 relay team of Alaina Schaner, Luisa VanderZwaag, Emma Miller and Martina Saenz.

Fifth-place honors were earned by Addison Hain in the 100 meters, Lauren Hopkins in the pole vault and the girls 4×100 relay team of Hain, Joselyn Flores, Natalie Rosema and Ellie Gross. The girls 4×200 relay team of Hain, Gross, Rosema and Flores also placed fifth.

Sixth-place finishers for the Pirates included Natalie Rosema in the 800 meters, Julian Lopez in the 3,200, Grant Ackley in the pole vault and the boys 4×800 relay team of Mason Opalewski, Grant Ackley, Trevor VanderKodde and Donald Budrew.

“Great job competing, Pirates,” coach Calvin Ackley said.
