HART — Auditions for the Hart Community Performing Arts Association’s production of Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas” are set for Tuesday, May 26 and Wednesday, May 27, from 6-8 p.m. at the Hart Middle School, at 308 W. Johnson St.
Audition participants are asked to use the back door entrance on the west side of the building. The entire community is invited to take part.
The classical musical will be performed Friday, July 24, Saturday, July 25, and Sunday, July 26, at Hart Public Schools Auditorium. Directed by David Moul, and supported by a production team made up of experienced theatre veterans, the production is open to performers ages 13 and older. Those auditioning are asked to prepare a traditional Christmas song that showcases a smooth, classic vocal style inspired by beloved vintage holiday entertainers. Children ages 8-12 are welcome to participate in the production’s Children’s Chorus and do not need to audition. The Children’s Chorus will take part in special rehearsals designed to teach basic theatre skills, along with instruction in singing and choreography. Participants will learn and perform in two featured ensemble numbers in the production. Registration and additional Children’s Chorus information is available online.
In addition to performers, HCPAA is also seeking community members interested in helping behind the scenes. Volunteers with skills in sewing costumes, set construction, painting, prop making, and other theatrical crafts are encouraged to get involved and may contact David Moul at dmoul@hartseries.org. Organizers say the production is a true community effort and welcome participants of all experience levels, both onstage and off.
