HART — The attorney representing a 46-year-old Ferry Township woman accused of murdering her husband presented two motions in 51st Circuit Court Monday, May 11.

Shale Nicole Campos is charged with open murder and felony firearm for the shooting death of her 46-year-old husband, Jason Campos, at their residence on East Buchanan Road in Ferry Township in the morning hours of Aug. 14, 2025.

Defense attorney Joshua Blanchard filed motions to “quash” or suppress evidence, said Oceana County Prosecuting Attorney Joseph Bizon, and they will be reviewed by Judge Susan K. Sniegowski.

“She needs to review transcripts and some case law,” said Bizon, and then she will issue a written opinion. “There is a challenge to a search warrant and another to suppress a possible item of evidence.”

Forensic pathologist Dr. Edmund Donoghue testified during a preliminary exam in 79th District Court that Jason Campos’ cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head.

Shale Campos initially told detectives that she claimed a “Hispanic male” entered their home through a sliding glass door when she and her husband were asleep, court documents state.

“Sgt. Cam Hanson testified about being called to the scene and was asked to do a dog track to see if the alleged intruder could be tracked,” said Prosecutor Bizon. “Based on the lack of physical evidence at the scene and the dog’s lack of any indication of a scent, the police do not believe there was an intruder.”

Shale Campos remains lodged in the Oceana County Jail without bond.

A pretrial hearing is scheduled for July 20 at 9:30 a.m.
