HART — The following were sentenced Monday, May 11, in Oceana County’s 51st Circuit Court:
Baisden
Joe Don Baisden, 47, pleaded no contest March 23 to a high-court misdemeanor of failure to comply with sex offender registration duties and was sentenced May 11 to five months in jail with credit for 90 days served; two years probation; and $198 in fines and costs, court records state. In a second file, Baisden pleaded no contest March 23 to a felony of fourth-degree fleeing and eluding police and a misdemeanor of operating while intoxicated and was sentenced May 11 to a concurrent term of two months in jail with credit for 94 days served; two years probation; and $1,152 in fines, costs and restitution, according to court records. Baisden was convicted of first-degree criminal sexual conduct while using a weapon in 2013, according to the Michigan Sex Offender Registry. He was sentenced to nine to 20 years in prison, according to Michigan Department of Corrections records, and was discharged from prison Feb. 17, 2024. His offense dates in the Oceana County cases are Aug. 10, 2025 and Nov. 4, 2025. The sex offender registry provides a work address for Baisden of 767 E. Sherman Blvd., Muskegon Heights, Mich.
Mendoza
Xavier Sabastian Mendoza, 39, pleaded guilty March 9 to a felony of delivery/manufacture of cocaine, heroin or another narcotic and was sentenced May 11 to two days in jail with credit for two days served; one year probation; and $598 in fines and costs, according to court records. A second count of delivery/manufacture of cocaine, heroin or another narcotic was dismissed.
