Thomas Frank Peacock, 88, of Mears, reached his heavenly destination on Thursday April 30, 2026. He was born Feb. 3, 1938 in Mt. Pleasant, to Haessel L. and Dorothy (Siegrist) Peacock. Tom grew up in Midland where he married Gayle Thiel on August 29, 1959. In 1960 he graduated from Michigan State College (now Michigan State University) with a bachelor’s degree, majoring in business and minoring in purchasing.
Together they raised four children; Michelle Milam Kolp (Chris), Chris (Carolyn), Matt (Stacey) and Stephen (Liz). They taught by example, insured that their children had excellent education, imparted a love of nature and shared their Catholic faith. They were blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Tom started his successful career at Diamond REO in 1960 and retired from General Motors Lansing in 1997 after 34 years of service. In retirement Tom and Gayle moved to Ludington and spent many years travelling North America in an Airstream travel trailer that Tom maintained flawlessly.
Tom excelled in “tinkering” being skilled in mechanical and engineering projects, landscaping, electrical work and so much more, earning him the title “jack of all trades”. He was a humble man, putting others first and he enjoyed lending a helping hand.
Tom was proceeded in death by his parents and his sister Clara J. Klisch. He is survived by his sister Laura E. Allen, nieces and nephews and cousins, Gayle, his wife of 66 years, and all of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, King-Hart Chapel with Father Phillip Sliwinski officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home and a luncheon will follow.
In his final months, Tom made his home at Cherry Blossom Manor. In honor of the loving and compassionate care that he received, the family welcomes memorial contributions to Cherry Blossom Manor 611 E. Main St. Ste. B Hart, MI 49420.
