SHELBY — The Shelby Tigers used dominant pitching and timely hitting to sweep White Cloud in a doubleheader Monday, winning 5-4 and 6-0 at home.
In the opener, Shelby rallied with a four-run fourth inning to take control. Leighton Belasco and Eli Kelley combined on the mound to secure the win. Dayday Garcia led the offense with two hits and two RBIs, while Trevor Weiss and Belasco each added RBI singles.
The Tigers completed the sweep in emphatic fashion in Game 2 as Cam Smith threw a no-hitter. Smith struck out seven and walked one in the shutout performance. At the plate, Kelley and Evan Waller each collected two hits, and Smith helped his own cause with an RBI single.
Shelby improved to 14-3 on the season.
