MAPLE CITY — Hart battled back late to secure a 1-1 draw against Glen Lake on Friday in its third match of the week.
Despite controlling possession for much of the game, the Pirates struggled to generate high-quality scoring chances while missing two first-choice forwards. Sophomore standout Addie Barefoot was also limited, sidelined for 30 minutes due to a knock.
Hart leaned on its depth, calling up several junior varsity players who contributed solid performances throughout the match.
Glen Lake produced just one shot on goal, but capitalized on it as Pirate goalkeeper Baleigh Klotz came off her line to challenge a one-on-one opportunity that resulted in the Lakers’ lone score. Hart trailed 1-0 at halftime.
The Pirates regrouped during the break, emphasizing composure and resilience. Their persistence paid off with nine minutes remaining when junior Rilynn Porter cut in from the wing and found Barefoot, who delivered the equalizer with a shot into the upper corner.
Hart continued to press and created additional chances down the stretch but was unable to find a game-winner.
The Pirates return to action Monday at Ravenna for a conference matchup against the Bulldogs, scheduled for 5 p.m.
