MUSKEGON — Hart coach Joseph Gilbert saw his team turn in a composed, two-way performance Wednesday as the Pirates earned a 2-0 win at Oakridge in their second game of the week and second conference matchup.

Hart’s offense came from a familiar connection, as junior Natalie Rosema and junior Rilynn Porter — teammates on both the basketball court and soccer field — combined for both goals.

Rosema opened the scoring with two minutes remaining in the first half, finishing a cross from Porter to give the Pirates a 1-0 lead at the break. The duo connected again in the second half when Porter delivered a well-weighted through ball after cutting in from the left wing, sending Rosema in on goal for the finish.

The Pirates controlled much of the match through the midfield, consistently winning possession and disrupting Oakridge’s build-up. The middle third was tightly contested, but Hart maintained the upper hand for most of the game.

Defensively, Hart limited Oakridge to just four total shots, including two on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Baleigh Klotz recorded two saves and was effective coming off her line to break up through balls before they developed into scoring chances.
