HESPERIA — The Pentwater Falcons made the most of a short roster at the Hesperia Invitational, as nine athletes combined for 11 place finishes, five medals and six personal records.
Sophomore Chase McGuire-Vangills led the effort with three first-place finishes. He won the 100-meter dash in 11.98 seconds, the 200-meter dash in 24.78, and the long jump with a mark of 17 feet, 3 inches.
Senior Logan Fatura continued his strong season in the throws, placing first in both shot put (42-4) and discus (117-1). He also added a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter dash (12.12).
Emma Werkema-Grondsma had a solid night, tying for fourth in the long jump (12-7) with a personal best. She also placed fifth in both the 100-meter dash (15.24) and 200-meter dash (32.85), setting personal records in each event.
The Falcons’ 4×100 relay team of Anthony Acosta, Russell Keyser, Silas Jobbins and Michael Smith finished fourth in 1:00.04.
Smith added a sixth-place finish in the long jump (15-6), also a personal best.
Other personal records came from Xach Davis in the discus (66-10) and Rodney Grondsma in the discus (61-6).
Despite limited numbers, Pentwater produced a strong overall showing with contributions across multiple events.
