Frances Lanenga
Frances “Jeanne” Lanenga, 91, of Hart, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, March 5, 2026. She was born January 10, 1935 in Oak Park, Ill., the daughter of Christian & Frances (Runik) Rockholm.
Jeanne met the love of her life, Louis Lanenga, at Geneva Bible Camp when they were teens. After he returned from serving in the Korean War, they married on January 8, 1955 at Warren Park Presbyterian Church, where they were longtime members. Throughout the early part of their marriage Lou & Jeanne lived in Belwood, Berwyn and Cicero, Ill.. Together, they raised seven children. They spent many summers camping and eventually built a home in the Upper Silver Lake area and remained there until Lou’s passing in 2003.
After his death, Jeanne remained active by continuing to work. She spent many summers making the salads at the Parkside Store in Silver Lake and took care of the cleaning at Hart United Methodist Church, where she and Lou had been members. She also enjoyed singing in the church choirs, being a part of the Oceana Singers, attending both Mears United Methodist Church and First Baptist Church of Hart and daily trips to the OCCOA for lunches. Many days, she could be seen walking her ‘mile’ around the center. She enjoyed both the time and all of the friends she met while there. She also looked forward to her yearly trips with friends to Florida through Orchard View Travel.
One of Jeanne’s greatest joys was spending time with her family. She looked forward to annual summer gatherings, many mother-daughter weekend get-togethers and her Christmas shopping trips. More recently, she loved getting daily calls from her children, and watching her digital frame with rotating pictures of all her family.
Jeanne is survived by: her children, Barbara (Bruce) Vanderhoof, Debra (Henry) Vogel, Jeff Lanenga, Randy Lanenga, Tina (Brian) Southwell, Amy (Michael) Klein, and Becky (Tim) VanderLaan; as well as 16 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
