HESPERIA — The Shelby Tigers defeated Hesperia 78-38 in a West Michigan Conference Rivers Division game Friday.
“We came out with great energy tonight,” said Shelby Coach Rick Zoulek. “It was a good thing because so did Hesperia. Both teams shot well In the first quarter. Our pressure kind of wore them down in the second quarter as we took a 52-25 lead into halftime.
“I was pleased that our guys maintained their effort on defense for four quarters.
“Our guys came in off the bench with the same focus and effort as the starters. We hope to carry this momentum into our tough final week with three games next week.”
Eli Kelley had the hot hand in the first scoring 14. Andrew Arquette had 12 and Leighton Belasco had 10 in the second. Leighton ended up with 22, Eli had 19, and Andrew finished with 17. Kamari Richmond led in rebounding with 7. Eli had 4 assists. Leighton had 3 blocks and 3 assists. Kamari and Isaac Garcia each had 4 steals.
