PENTWATER — The Pentwater Falcons defeated Mason County Eastern Thursday, 73-54, in West Michigan D League play.
“We got off to a good start but couldn’t find our rhythm in the second half,” said MCE Coach Austin Boundy. “Shots weren’t falling. Our offensive rhythm that was great in the first half completely fell apart. But, everyone on that court played really hard. The effort is there, we just have to get our minds right and settle down when our opponents go on runs. Milo shot the seams off the ball which sparked our offense.”

“This was more than a win for us, this was a lesson in what a winning effort is,” said MCE JV Coach Abe Shoup. “We knew Pentwater was hungry and eager to defend their home court. If we wanted to come out on top, it was going to take a full team effort. In my opinion, that is exactly what we did and I’m proud of my guys.
“Our defense was tight and created turnovers and we kept finding open guys with ball movement on offense. Kollin Spyker knocked down four 3s to lead our scoring and grabbed a bunch of rebounds and steals. For a guy in his first season of basketball, he’s made some great progress.”
