NEW ERA  — Michigan State University Extension and asparagus industry partners will host Oceana Asparagus Day, providing Michigan asparagus growers with a full day of educational programming focused on markets, labor, and production challenges Thursday, March 5, at New Era Reformed Church.

Registration is from 8–9 a.m., and the program will run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Oceana Asparagus Day is an annual educational meeting bringing together Michigan State University researchers and asparagus industry leaders from Michigan and beyond. This year’s program features market outlooks; international production perspectives from Peru and Europe; updates on federal policy and labor; and new asparagus weed control research at Michigan State University, along with time to visit exhibitors during lunch.

“Our goal is to give growers practical, timely information they can use as they prepare for the season,” said MSU Extension Educator Ben Werling. “It’s also a chance to hear directly from industry voices and connect with other growers.”

One Michigan Restricted Use Pesticide (RUP) credit and Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) Continuing Education Units have been requested.

Early registration is $25 on or before March 2. Late registration is $40 after March 2 and at the door. Growers can register online HERE or by calling the Oceana County MSU Extension office at 231-873-2129.
