SCOTTVILLE — The Hart Pirates defeated Mason County Central Tuesday, Jan. 20, 45-32 in West Michigan Conference Rivers Division play.
Hart led the game in the first three quarters but the Spartans out-scored the Pirates in the fourth quarter.
“We played great defense, but struggled finishing around the basket,” said Hart Coach Ron Williamson.
“Tonight we had one bad quarter in the first and that sunk us,” said MCC Coach Brent Lyon. “Scoring 3 points in that quarter put us 8 points behind and we could never get them back.
“I love the way we fight the entire game and never give up. Sophia Quick comes back from a week vacation and leads us in scoring. She is a kid that never stops hustling and we missed that. We had balanced scoring tonight from seven different girls and that’s what I want to see. Hart played a good tough game tonight and they got the best of us. We never stopped fighting and we never backed down. We get the next two days to clean up a few things and get ready for North Muskegon on Friday night.”
