NEWAYGO — Hart defeated the Newaygo Lions Wednesday, Jan. 14 51-26.
Pirates Coach Nick Bronsema said despite the large score gap, Newaygo was physical and aggressive.
The Pirates showcased their depth and balanced scoring attack especially while without the teams leading scoring Jagger Lenon who is currently injured, Bronsema said.
Hart took a 13-3 lead at the end of the first quarter and was able to stretch it to 31-8 by halftime. The Pirates were able to hold on in the second half thanks to the play of guard Miguel Escamilla who dished out five assists and while picking up seven rebounds and three steals on the defensive end. Caleb led the game with eight rebounds while Luke Vanderwilk scored in double figures at 10 points.
Hart will host North Muskegon Friday for a West Michigan Conference Lakes Division game.
