HART — The preliminary examination for a 27-year-old mother and her 34-year-old boyfriend who are charged with multiple counts of child abuse in connection to the

Hogan
death of her son, 7-month-old Maverick Lyle Bouck, is set for Jan. 27 in Oceana County’s 79th District Court.
The hearing was scheduled following a probable cause hearing before Judge John Middlebrook in district court Tuesday, Jan. 6, according to court records.
Elizabeth LynnLanor Hogan and Devin Austin Brown-Fowler, who both have the same Hartford, Mich. address, are each charged with one count of second-degree child abuse, third-degree child abuse and fourth-degree child abuse. They both remain lodged in the Oceana County Jail, according to court records. Brown-Fowler’s bond is set at $50,000 cash/surety, and Hogan’s is $25,000/cash/surety.
The Oceana County’s Sheriff’s Office investigated the baby boy’s death that occurred

Brown-Fowler
Sunday evening, May 4, in the 9000 block of S. 192nd Avenue in Greenwood Township, said Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.
“He had three skull fractures, three broken ribs and a brain bleed — he passed from the brain bleed,” said Aimee Camp, who was Maverick’s grandmother and is Elizabeth Hogan’s mother.
The maximum penalty for second-degree child abuse is 10 years in prison; third-degree is two years in prison; and

Maverick Bouck
fourth-degree child abuse carries a one-year maximum, said Oceana County Prosecuting Attorney Joseph Bizon.
When asked why the couple are not being charged with murder or manslaughter, Bizon said, “Murder and manslaughter charges include an element of intent related to desired outcomes. The evidence does not support such a conclusion.”
