Hart district asks for community input as superintendent search begins

January 5, 2026

Community members can complete an online survey beginning Monday, Jan. 5.

HART — As the Hart Public School district begins its search for a new superintendent, the community is asked to offer input.

Superintendent Mark Platt is retiring at the end of the school year. Platt will be the longest-serving superintendent in Hart Public School’s history when he retires after 13 years at the helm of the Pirate ship.

“The Board of Education of the Hart Public School District is beginning the search for the district’s next superintendent of schools,” states Consultant Mark Dobias with the Michigan Association of School Boards. “Current Superintendent Mark Platt is retiring at the end of June following 13 years’ exemplary service. The board has contracted with the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB) to facilitate the search. It is the board’s intent to make this process highly transparent and offers interested persons to be involved by sharing their thoughts as to the skills and attributes the next leader should possess.”

Opportunities for input include completing an online survey, attending meetings with the consultant and attending candidate interviews.

The survey is available beginning Monday, Jan. 5, through Friday, Jan. 16, at 4 p.m. To take the survey, click here: Superintendent Search Survey

Meetings with the MASB consultant are set for Monday, Jan. 12, at the district’s central business office.

The following is the schedule:

Community members are also invited to attend candidate interviews, which will be scheduled in March. Those who attend will be encouraged to submit written feedback after each interview.
