Lakeshore Badgers to honor U.S. military during Veterans Day hockey game

November 10, 2025

VICTORY TOWNSHIP  — The Lakeshore Badgers Varsity Hockey Team will host a special Veterans Day game Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 4:15 p.m. at the West Shore Community Ice Arena, at 3000 North Stiles Rd.

The Badgers will face off against the Cadillac Vikings in what is anticipated to be an exciting matchup. In honor of Veterans Day, all active duty and veteran members of the United States Armed Forces will be admitted free of charge.

Pre-game ceremonies beginning prior to puck drop will include:

  • Recognition of service members in attendance;
  • A performance of the National Anthem; and
  • A presentation of the colors by an honorary military color guard.

“This event is a tribute to the courage and sacrifice of our nation’s heroes, and the Lakeshore Badgers invite the entire community to join in showing appreciation and support,” said Head Coach Brian Zatloukal.

The Badgers are a co-op team consisting of players from Manistee, Ludington, Mason County Central, Mason County Eastern, Pentwater, Hart and Shelby high schools.

“Our season started on Oct. 27 with our first game last Saturday in Kalamazoo against Kalamazoo United. We had some early season rust and dug a bit of a hole, but played well in the second and third periods. We lost the contest 8-4, but had some good things to build on,” said Coach Zatloukal.

The Badgers have a busy schedule this week with two home games and one away game. Following Tuesday’s Veterans Day game, the Badgers face Cadillac again Thursday, Nov. 13, at the Wexford Civic Arena, and then they return home Friday, Nov. 14, to play the Mid-Michigan Raptors of Mt. Pleasant.
