Festival attendees spent a total of $7.3 million, according to visitors bureau
GOLDEN TOWNSHIP — The Silver Lake Sand Dunes Apple & BBQ Festival last month drew 30,000 people who spent a total of $7.3 million, according to data collected by the Silver Lake Sand Dunes — Hart Visitors Bureau
“The annual Silver Lake Sand Dunes Apple & BBQ Festival, a beloved tradition in the heart of Golden Township, has once again proven its remarkable economic impact,” states a press release from the visitors bureau. “This year’s festival, held on Sept. 5 and 6, has showcased a substantial economic impact, stimulating the local community and businesses.

“Directly benefiting from the festival, this year’s event drew an estimated 30,000 visitors. Their spending include $3.2 million in lodging revenue; $243 in spending per visitor; and totaling to $7.3 million in total participant spending of both locals and out-of-town visitors. They not only contribute to the festival’s success but also stimulate the local economy by spending on accommodation, dining, transportation, and unique local experiences in Silver Lake.
“The festival also donates each year to the United Way of Oceana County, Crystal Valley Care Fund, Silver Lake fireworks, flowers and flag at the roundabout in downtown Silver Lake, repainting the Golden Township Park sign, and past contributions of over $20,000 to assist with the park expansion.”
