Barbara Ann Favre

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Ann (Schissler) Favre, 82, of Pentwater. Barbara died Thursday, September 18, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 3, 1943, in Chicago, the daughter of Stephen and Josephine (Mandl) Schissler. Barbara was married to Richard Favre for 56 years.

Barbara and Richard met as teenagers in Chicago, got married in 1964, made their home and raised three children in the suburbs of Oak Forest and Frankfort, Ill. Together they spent exciting times in downtown Chicago, relaxing times at Bass Lake, Pentwater, and warm, snow-free winters in Florida.

More than just about anything Barbara loved spending her days and evenings with family and friends. Together they enjoyed playing cards, Rummikub and more, listening to music, sharing a good meal and a few cocktails. She was also fortunate to have gathered a great extended group of friends even in her later years, largely through favorite activities like water aerobics and regular get-togethers. Barbara is survived by her daughters, Lisa (Johnny Ballard) Favre of Sautee Nacoochee, Georgia, and Gina (Terry) Briese of Frankfort, Illinois; her son, Joseph (Amy Lewis) Favre of Amsterdam, Netherlands; and three grandchildren, Nathan (Tenley Schwarz) Briese, Lorin Briese and Elise Briese. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brother Stephen Schissler.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 20, 2025, at St. Joseph Weare Catholic Church with Father Phil Sliwinksi presiding.  Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of Mass at the church.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Barbara’s home afterwards from 12:30 to to 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pentwater Swim and Social Club. This may be done at the Visitation/Mass or through Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service.
