PENTWATER TOWNSHIP — A 2025 Denago Nomad XL golf cart driven by a 72-year-old Pentwater man and carrying three passengers flipped over after hitting a tree Wednesday, Aug. 27, shortly after 5 p.m. on North Hilltop Court, according to an Oceana County Sheriff’s Office accident report.
The driver was injured in the crash, but none of the passengers were hurt, the report states. Passengers included: a 72-year-old Pentwater man, a 71-year-old Pentwater woman and a 70-year-old Pentwater woman.
The driver was transported by Life EMS to Trinity Health Mercy Hospital in Muskegon.
The man “was taking passengers for a ride on a golf cart on a trail that was just put in behind the residence of 6909 N. Hilltop Ct.,” states the report. “As unit 1 was traveling along the trail, unit 1 attempted to traverse a sharp turn with a downhill decline with soft sand,” states the report. “As unit 1 attempted to traverse the turn, the driver of unit 1 was unable to maintain control of the vehicle due to the vehicle load, which resulted in the vehicle to increase in speed. As the vehicle exited the turn, the vehicle hit some holes before hitting the base of a tree with its front passenger side tires. After unit 1 hit the tree, the vehicle flipped over causing the golf cart to land on the driver of the vehicle, and the front passenger to land on top of the driver. The vehicle was then turned back over to free the driver of unit 1. Only the driver sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital.”
