51st Circuit Court sentences, published Aug. 28, 2025

HART — The following were sentenced this week in Oceana County’s 51st Circuit Court:

Burch

– Leonard Richard Burch, Jr., 53, pleaded guilty April 14 to two counts of assaulting/resisting/obstructing police and was sentenced Aug. 25 to five months in jail with credit for 66 days served; 18 months probation; and $726 in fines and costs.

Achterhoff

– Jacob Brian-Edward Achterhoff, 26, pleaded guilty June 16 to two counts of assaulting/resisting/obstructing police and third-offense operating while intoxicated and was sentenced Aug. 25 to nine months in jail with credit for four days served; two years probation; and $2,184 in fines, costs and restitution. One count of driving while license suspended was dismissed.

Smith

– Theodore Alan Smith, 51, pleaded guilty July 7 to assaulting a prison employee and was sentenced Aug. 25 to one year in jail with credit for 244 days served; two years probation; and $598 in fines and costs. A second count of assaulting a prison employee was dismissed. In a second case, Smith pleaded guilty to assaulting/resisting/obstructing police and assault and battery July 7 and received concurrent terms Aug. 25 of six months in jail with credit for 254 days served and 90 days in jail with credit for 90 days served and $648 in fines and costs. One count of assaulting/resisting/obstructing police was dismissed.

Booher

– Benjamin Dakota Booher, 24, pleaded guilty June 9 to possession of methamphetamine/ecstasy and was sentenced Aug. 25 to nine months in jail with credit for two days served; two years probation; and $598 in fines and costs.

Trevino

– Gregory Lee Trevino, 42, was found guilty of probation violation and sentenced Aug. 25 to 15 days in jail with credit for three days served; probation continued; and he must pay remaining fines and costs of $283. Trevino’s probation stems from a Feb. 24, 2025 conviction of possession of methamphetamine/ecstasy.
