HART — Spitler Elementary School students will begin the new school year Sept. 2 with a new principal.
The Hart Board of Education Monday, Aug. 18, unanimously approved hiring Jenna Oleneack as the new principal. Oleneack replaces Brandon Bruce who was hired earlier this month as the new high school principal.
Oleneack served as the K-12 assistant principal at Pentwater Public Schools last year.
The Hart school district posted an announcement Tuesday about the new hire.
We are very excited to have Mrs. Oleneack join our Pirate Nation! Please check out Mrs. Oleneack’s letter below and be sure to welcome her aboard!
Hello Pirate Community!
I’m Jenna Oleneack, and I’m thrilled to kick off this school year with all of you! To my Lil’ Pirates, I can’t wait to meet you soon. I believe this year will be filled with growth, encouragement, positivity, and unforgettable moments.
My journey in education began at Greenville Public Schools, where I taught special education at the secondary level. I then spent a year at Rockford Public Schools as a teacher consultant before serving as the K-12 assistant principal at Pentwater Public Schools last year. As a lifelong learner, I’m eager to bring my experience to Spitler Elementary and support each student’s journey throughout the school year.
My husband, Steve, and I moved to the area last year with our three children: Andersen (12), Joleigh (9), and Gracelyn (4). We are currently building a home in Mears, a place that holds many of my cherished childhood memories.
As the school year begins, we are excited and looking forward to getting to know the “Hart” of this community.

“I am extremely pleased with the work of the committee and the selection of Jenna,” said Hart Public Schools Superintendent Mark Platt. “She is a very kind person with excellent leadership skills. She was the clear favorite of the entire committee. We went fishing for a leader and caught a dandy!”
Pentwater Public Schools announced it is seeking candidates to fill Oleneack’s vacancy as the assistant K-12 principal.
