PENTWATER — Pentwater Village Manager Rachel Witherspoon has announced her resignation, and the Pentwater Village Council will promptly begin its search for a replacement.
Witherspoon began the job Oct. 1, 2024, replacing Chris Brown who was fired by the council the previous March.
“As I prepare to leave my position as village manager for the Village of Pentwater, I want to take a moment to thank the village council, the highly skilled village staff, and the Pentwater community,” stated Witherspoon in a statement posted Aug. 14 on the village’s Facebook page. “I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to have served the village and the trust everyone has placed in me.
“While I am going to miss the Village of Pentwater, I am proud to have accomplished so much in the last 10 months with our capable team. Among those accomplishments, we have nearly finished a $7 million water project, established the first code enforcement program, helped secure $2.2 million in USACE funding for the Pentwater Harbor, improved our village infrastructure, and established new lines of communication.
“I have full confidence that our village staff will continue to serve the village with high quality services, integrity, and skill. I look forward to seeing Pentwater thrive for many years to come!”
“Yesterday (Aug. 12), Rachel Witherspoon informed the village council and our incredible staff, that she is resigning from her position as Pentwater village manager,” stated Pentwater Village Council President Mary Marshall in a post on the village’s Facebook page. “Rachel has accomplished amazing things in her tenure, and I cannot thank her enough for her leadership, transparency, communication, and vision. The village council will promptly begin searching for a replacement. We will keep the community informed along the way of our progress and any opportunities for your involvement. We wanted to let the community know of this transition. We thank you for giving us a little time to make some important decisions about our way forward. More to come!”
