MONTAGUE — The Michigan Department of Transportation has announced a resurfacing project and potential lane reconfiguration on Business Route US 31 between the White River bridge and Stanton Street is scheduled to begin in 2027.
MDOT is hosting a public meeting Thursday, Aug. 21, from 4-5:30 p.m. at the Montague City Hall. “MDOT officials will provide current project details, scheduling information and expected traffic impacts,” states an MDOT press release. “The public is invited to stop by anytime during the meeting to learn more about the project, provide comments and ask questions.”
“Across Michigan, we are moving dirt and fixing the damn roads to grow our economy, helping Michiganders go to work, drop their kids off at school and run errands safely,” states Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in the press release. “By the end of this construction season, we will have fixed, repaired or replaced nearly 24,500 lane miles of roads and 1,900 bridges, supporting thousands of good-paying, local jobs without raising taxes by a dime. This year, let’s build on our momentum to pass a bipartisan local road funding plan so we can keep fixing our damn roads and creating good-paying, local jobs.”
