GOLDEN TOWNSHIP — A mobile home with an addition at 7408 W. Fox Rd. was destroyed by fire Monday morning, Aug. 11, said Hart Fire Chief Dwight Fuehring.
The Hart Area Fire Department was assisted by Shelby-Benona and Pentwater fire departments.
The cause of the fire is unknown. There was no power or gas connected. A man was living in the trailer, but he was not home at the time of the fire. However, when firefighters arrived at the scene, they thought he was home. “We suspected he might have been in there, and we fought the fire thinking he might be in there,” said Chief Fuehring. A sheriff’s deputy later found the man walking along the road unharmed, he said.
“It was a little difficult to fight, because there was so much debris in the yard.” He said the hot and muggy conditions also posed a challenge.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 6:17 a.m. and cleared the scene around 11:30 a.m.
