Obituary: Charles Helmer Anderson, 91

Chuck Anderson

Chuck, Dad, PC, Chuckie or Charles went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, August 4, 2025.

Chuck was born Charles Helmer Anderson on July 13, 1934, in Menominee.  His parents were Carl G. and Ruth V. Anderson(Bloomquist).  He had two sisters and a brother, Ruth Marie (Borns), Elizabeth-Betsy (Evans), and David L. Anderson. All of his family preceded him in death.

At the age of 9, Chuck’s family moved to Wallace.  It was in Wallace at a tent meeting that Chuck gave his life to Christ.  He graduated from Stephenson High School in 1952.  That fall he went to North Park College.  He felt called to be a pastor while there during his sophomore year. In 1954, he transferred to Bethel College and graduated in 1956. He then went back to North Park to get his Master of Divinity in 1962.  He did an internship in Renovo, Penn. and in Mears, where he met Shirley J. Anderson (Robinson) at a Singspiration on the beach of Silver Lake.  They were married in Hart Methodist Church on August 22, 1959.

Chuck loved Jesus and wanted everyone to know of God’s generous love for everyone. His favorite phrase for everyone was “Jesus Loves You”.  He served in the ministry for 40-plus years.

He served in Lanse, Penn. and Renovo, Pen.., Jamestown, NY, Kalamazoo, Hudsonville, Fruitland, Elbridge, and Whitehall.

Chuck love being around people and sharing his love for Jesus with everyone.  He loved singing, laying in the hammock, barbecuing, sports especially his Cubbies and horse racing.

Together Chuck and Shirley have two children, Lisa Farris and Lars Anderson; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Farris, Carl Farris, Linnea (Patrick) Olson, and Lauren (Christopher) Coy; and five great-grandchildren, Noah Walker, Harmony Walker, Manny Walker, Melody Walker, and Elena Coy.

Memorial Services for Chuck will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Hart Methodist Church, 308 South State Street, Hart with food to follow to honor Chuck and celebrate a life well lived. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Portage Lake Covenant Bible Camp. They are about to build a new Dining Hall; Chuck loved a good meal.
